Robertson State School is serviced two days a week by a Guidance Officer.
The Guidance Officer's main services include:
- Consultation/collaboration with parents, teachers and other relevant stakeholders to meet the needs of children
- Assessing children – to give a greater understanding of their abilities and educational program needs
· Counselling (initial/short term only and referral to outside services for ongoing support if needed)
- Outside agency communication with GPs, Specialists (as supported by parents).
Access to the Guidance Officer is by referral through the Student Support Services (SSS) team. This team meets fortnightly to discuss referred students and prioritises cases based on needs. If parents would like their child seen by the Guidance Officer, they need to contact their child's class teacher.
