At Robertson State School, we value student leadership and provide a range of opportunities for students to develop their leadership skills, take on responsibility and make a positive contribution to our school community.
In Term 4 each year, students in their second-last year of primary school are invited to apply for a variety of leadership positions for the following year. These include School Captains and Vice Captains, House Captains, Band Captains, Strings Captains, Choir Captains, Library Captain and Library Monitors, Tech Captain and Tech Team, Student Councillors, and PBL Captain and PBL Team.
The selection process is designed to be fair, transparent and rigorous. It involves an application, endorsement by staff, a selection process, speeches and a full preferential voting system to determine our school leaders. School Captains and Vice Captains are announced at the final assembly of the school year, before commencing their leadership roles the following year.
A special assembly is held early in Term 1 to formally recognise our student leaders and present their badges of office.
We also believe that every student has the potential to demonstrate leadership. All students have the opportunity to attain and earn a Student Leader badge during their senior year, recognising their commitment to leadership and their positive contribution to the school community.
Through these opportunities, we encourage students to lead by example, demonstrate our school values and contribute to making Robertson State School a supportive, inclusive and thriving learning community.
