The EAL/D teacher supports students who speak a language, other than English, at home. This teacher works together with the Support Teacher Literacy and Numeracy (STLaN) and provides support to students who need assistance to adequately participate in the mainstream curriculum. The Queensland Education Department guidelines in conjunction with data collected by classroom teachers help identify students for support. This support may be in small groups or individual. The EAL/D teacher also advises teachers on strategies to effectively teach students with EAL/D in the classroom.
