Health and Physical Activity

Every student at Robertson State School is provided a weekly Health and Physical Activity lesson. Both the Health strand and Movement stand of the Australian Curriculum are covered as part of our lessons. Additional curriculum time outside these lessons is provided for with our Prep to Year 2 classes who undertake a learn to swim program and the Year 3 to Year 6 classes who will each have an extra hour weekly to participate in afternoon sport sessions.

Extra-Curricular Sport

Cross Country

Each year all students participate in the whole school cross country running races. Distances are age appropriate with lower school classes in particular having a focus around participation and the success of completing the run. Middle and upper school students run in age grouping rather than year level and complete a course which mirrors district sport requirements.

Sports and Athletics Days

Year levels from Prep to Year 3 participate in a Junior Sports Day which has a mixture of activities that include running races, ball games and carnival activities.

Year's 4 to Year 6 have an inter-house athletic carnival. The carnival has a focus on running events and 4 field events. The field events mirror those offered at district level for this age group. These are Shotput, Discus, Long Jump and High Jump.

Interschool Sport

Years 5 and 6 have an opportunity to participate in interschool sporting days. These are known as Gala Days and occur 3 times per semester for the chosen sports. For their given sport, children play multiple games on each of the Gala Days against other schools participating in the Sunnybank Cluster Sport Group.

Representative Sport

Our school is an affiliate of the Eastern Taipans district. Children are eligible for representative pathways the year they turn ten. The sports and dates of trials are advertised within the school and can also be found on the Metropolitan West Regional Sport website. We use major events such as the whole school cross country and athletics days to identify students for these pathways.

Other sport

Robertson State School also has external providers that run programmes before or after school. This includes Tennis, Basketball, AFL Auskick, Soccer, Cricket, Karate and a long association with Rhythmic Gymnastics.
